Questions, answered
What is Sparkal?
Sparkal is an AI skincare app for iPhone and Android. It analyses a selfie to score your skin, checks your skincare products for ingredients that suit or clash with your skin, and builds a morning and night routine you can track day by day.
How does the AI skin analysis work?
You take a selfie in the app. Sparkal first checks on your device that there is one face, looking forward, sharp and well lit. The photo is then analysed by AI, which scores hydration, redness, clarity, oiliness, texture and tone, estimates your skin type and skin age, and maps where each concern shows up on your face. It also measures your skin depth and undertone to suggest foundation shades that match.
Is Sparkal free?
Sparkal is free to download and your first scan is free. Sparkal Pro unlocks more daily scans, product checks, the skin advisor and your full scan history. New subscribers may get a free trial, and you can cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play settings.
Can Sparkal check my skincare products?
Yes. Photograph the front and the back label of a product and Sparkal reads its ingredients, flags anything that may not suit your skin, and adds it to your shelf. Shelf check then looks across all your products for clashing actives, duplicates, gaps and the right morning or night order.
Do I need an account?
No. You can start scanning straight away as a guest. If you sign up later, your earlier scans stay with you, and an account lets you keep your history on a new phone.
What happens to my photos?
Your photos and results are stored privately with your account and are used only to give you your results. Sparkal has no advertising trackers and does not sell your data. Deleting your account deletes your photos and history.
Is Sparkal a substitute for a dermatologist?
No. Sparkal gives general skincare and wellness guidance based on how your skin looks in photos. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition. See a dermatologist about any changing moles or spots, pain, bleeding or a rash that will not settle.
How often should I scan my skin?
Up to three skin scans a day, one each in the morning, daytime and night windows. Scanning at a similar time and in similar light each day gives the clearest picture of how your skin is changing.
